Koala Park Sanctuary was founded in 1920's and opened to the public in October 1930, by Noel Burnet. The idea behind the Koala Park Sanctuary, was to protect the koalas which were killed for their fur and could have become extinct in future. The Koala Park Sanctuary opened Australia's first Koala Research Hospital in 1930. Koala Park Sanctuary it is not a traditional zoo. Beside the koalas there are not many other animals and they enjoy a relative freedom. You can interact with the animals by cuddling and feeding them, take close up pictures, etc. The Koala Park Sanctuary is home for the following animals: Koalas, Peacocks, Cockatoos, Emus, Kangaroos, Wombats, Echidnas, Rainbow Lorrikeet, Wedge-Tailed Eagles, Dingos and some other native animals and birds.
